Created only for the Alliance military with the best materials, technologies and upgrades by the top scientists and engineers in Arcturus Station.

Capable of fires accurate and deadly semi-automatic bursts as well as fires in long deadly bursts. The Tanto was created and distributed exclusively for the Alliance infantry as a close range secondary weapon and various law enforcement agencies within the Alliance itself. It is possible that the Tanto could also be used by the Alliance military pilots as an additional sidearm due to its compact and collapsible design. Very effective against armor, shields and biotic barriers. Limited accuracy at long range but better in close range. This submachine gun can also be fitted with a sound suppressor attachment for special operations.

Where most modern firearms shave off pellets the size a grain of sand from an ammunition blocks, the Tanto, along with other SM series firearms, shaves off metals the size of match heads. Thus, it drastically give far more damage and injuries along with improves its armor-piercing capabilities than any other modern firearms.

Manufactured by the Arcturus Advanced Research Division. Within several years, those weapons will be produced by the selected Alliance-based military manufacturers.
